Lets talk about fabric

You'll hear us talk a lot about the fabrics that we use. You may ask why. What's the difference?

Well the simple answer is a lot is different.

There has been a proliferation of lower priced cycling gear on websites hitting social media marketing recently and its worth doing a comparison on what you are getting, because flashy marketing with some genetically gifted model that doesn't reflect the real people in the world does not mean quality kit!

We only spec the very best. We only have Italian made fabrics in our garments. Most of the fabrics have a high percentage of recycle polyester in them, and post consumer recycled fabrics. Meaning we are acting in a way that promotes our values of sustainability and value. When you put these fabrics side by side with a cheap fabric you can see and feel the difference. The quality Italian fabrics wick moisture away better, hold their shape after many many washes, hold the colour better, feel softer when wearing them, have better compression qualities and are more abrasion resistant.

Through our manufacturing partners we are able to select the best fabrics for a particular garment. We design our garments with different fabrics on different panels to make our gear even more comfortable. Ranging from the perfect fabric for daily training or gravel adventure through to a full on aero race jersey.

What's the difference? In a full aero race jersey we may spec part of the jersey with ultra aero material, you know, the raised rib materials you see on the pro tour. The front and back panels might be a super light knit fabric, highly breathable and light for long hots days. A daily training cycling jersey is likely to be a bit more robust to handle the frequent usage and washing. Slightly thicker material that offers better abrasion resistance while still maintaining the high wicking and coolness for the summer.

If you have a specific requirement for a cycling jersey or cycling bib shorts, then get in touch. We can design to suit your needs. That includes adjusting patterns, selecting the correct materials and of course designing what they will look like. Its a true bespoke service and we wont be beaten on price!
