Finally its starting to show signs of spring. I even saw 2 little lambs on my ride yesterday. The garden is showing signs of spring plants and its definitely starting to get lighter.
Its a tricky time for dressing for cycling, you know what I mean, days that are changeable, temperatures that see you over heating on climbs but getting cold on descents. Its that in between weather that's neither hot or cold.
But its a time that you can get sick, radical temperature variations stress your system, and you get cold sitting at the cafe having your long black.
The secret is layers of good quality clothing. Clothing that can be taken off and put back on quickly to adjust to the environment on the go. The other factor that is so important is the quality of the fabrics used. High quality performance cycling fabrics breath, they wick seat and moisture away from the skin to help keep you cool and they don't hold the moisture when you are bombing the decent, making you freeze. It sounds like a little thing, but its makes a massive difference to your ride.
If you buy low quality fabrics that don't have the technology then it simply means you wont have as good a riding experience as you can with decent kit. The beauty is, with Spoke and Stone, you can now buy those high quality fabrics for cycling jerseys and bib shorts for an accessible and fair price.
Now is the perfect time to get your new jerseys and bib shorts sorted for summer, events are starting to ramp up, road cycling clubs are launching their summer programs, gravel events are on the horizon and your riding will get more frequent with the improving weather.
Ride often, love riding, feel great doing it.
